Local Food Hub helps farmers with trainings, certifications, food safety, and market access, drawing on its 10 years operating as a wholesale distributor and a wealth of knowledge gained from ongoing programs and relationships.
COVID19 led to many challenges for farmers and the community, and Local Food Hub was there to facilitate connections and create solutions. We developed the first online, drive-through market in the region, and our food access programs provided a significant sales outlet for local farms.
Our partners include first-time farmers and farms with decades, even generations, of experience. While most of our partner farms do at least a portion of their sales to the wholesale market, we also have many partners exclusively focused on direct-to-consumer sales. Farms operate on hundreds of acres and half an acre. We also work with a range of food businesses, who create delicious and unique value-added food products. We have always worked with a diverse network of farms, but in 2020 committed to more intentionally support minority-owned farms.
