John King has transitioned from farming in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Buckingham County over the past few years. After growing up on a dairy farm and then farming on his own in Lancaster for three years, he moved to Dillwyn in January 2019. He is setting up a diverse operation and farming with actual horsepower. His farm includes cattle, seven acres of vegetables, and six acres wrapper tobacco, the premium specialty leaves that wrap cigars.
Spring Hollow Farm made quite an impression in 2019 as a first time Local Food Hub partner with his consistent supply of high quality produce. Clearly not one to rest, John also opened a country store to feed his community in March 2020, Spring Hollow Farm Market. This year he is organizing and mentoring fellow Amish growers who also relocated nearby from Lancaster Pennsylvania, and has created the Buckingham Amish Produce Co-op. This will make delivering their produce easier, while still having full traceability of product to each farm.
