Director of Community and Policy
Laura Brown worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Washington, D.C. for four years prior to joining Local Food Hub. While at USDA, she held positions in the Office of Congressional Relations, Farm and Foreign Agriculture Services, and with the National Farm to School Program, where she provided technical assistance to schools interested in purchasing locally sourced products, and supported USDA’s $5 million annual Farm to School Grant Program. She moved back to her hometown of Charlottesville, VA, in 2014 to work for Local Food Hub. Laura has worn many hats at Local Food Hub, including communications, marketing, and wholesale sales. She currently works on food access initiatives including Farm to School and Fresh Farmacy and participants in local, regional, and national conversations around food policy. Laura holds a B.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia.
